Failin Design is my ongoing exploration through material, intuition, and uncertainty.
My name is Elin. I work with color, clay, fiber, and pen.
My pieces grow from feeling, from what moves within.
I let the materials guide me and handle them in the way that feels natural in the moment.
The pen has followed me through words and doodles.
The words are the poetry the pen has left behind.
My doodles are a repetition of my days as a bored child in school,
small forms that appeared in every notebook.
In them, I prefer working with micropens,
allowing the contrast between black and white to speak clearly.
Fiber is everything thread —
from crocheted forms to knotted works that stand proudly on a wall.
Macramé has allowed me to explore knots and structure,
challenging myself to let wood and yarn complement one another naturally.
Clay has followed me through wheel throwing and sculpting.
Throwing has taught me the capacity and responsiveness of clay.
Sculpting has taught me to explore form and construction.
Above all, clay has taught me that every accident can also become something unique and beautiful.
Color reconnects me to playfulness —
the urge to experiment, interpret, and explore.
That anything can become a brush.
The best thing in the world is a blank canvas, waiting to be filled.
If something resonates, or if you’d like to collaborate, exhibit, or simply connect — you are warmly welcome to write to me.
